What Recession?

Monday, October 31st, 2011

You would have to be a hermit locked in your shell to not know that the economy is in a dire state right now. The word ‘recession’ has been engraved into our brains day after day like a catchy pop song. Millions have been affected by it and millions more fear that they’re going to be affected by it. You don’t have to be one of them.

There is one market that has been virtually untouched by the recession and in many cases is thriving because of it: the internet. There has never been a better time to start an online business than right now.

The risk involved is very small because internet businesses cost little to nothing to start up. In many cases you’ll save money because you’ll be working from home, not spending money on gas or public transportation and you’ll be able to write off some of your regular expenses like rent for tax purposes.

You can start working online part-time to provide some financial backup for you and your family. This way you’ll have something to turn to if something should happen with your fulltime job, but it’s quite likely that you’ll find yourself happier and making more money with your online business and decide to take it fulltime anyway.

The reason internet business is thriving is because companies are being forced to lay off staff and are hiring freelancers who work on a per project basis that doesn’t require regular salary, health benefits or retirement funds. This also gives them the opportunity to price out and compare freelancers for each project. If you have experience in a specific industry there is definitely an audience for your business on the net.

If you have a product to offer instead of a service the same is true for you. Shoppers are demonstrating more spending caution now than in many years past. They are turning to the internet to shop to save money on transportation and focus only on the items they are looking for. It also allows them to compare prices, quality and convenience. Look for a niche that hasn’t been oversaturated and you can run a very successful online business.

There’s no reason to wait until you’re desperate to explore the international marketplace that’s sitting right at home. Put the internet to work for you and become recession proof.

Business Plans Made Easy

Sunday, October 30th, 2011

As the New Year rolls in, business owners begin planning or have planned what they want to achieve in 2010. Most new and existing business owners are writing these plans down in a new or revised business plan format. For new business owners writing a business plan can be an overwhelming task, but having a plan is important for clear direction, to obtain financing, and to help manage your business throughout the year. For existing business owners it can be easy to remain in a routine but it is more beneficial to recognize and prepare for the changes in your industry while planning how you want to expand or simply work differently in the New Year. Below are a few strategies to ease the daunting task of writing a business plan for new entrepreneurs and to reignite your existing passion for your work.

Wikipedia defines a business plan as a formal statement of a set of business goals, the reasons why they are believed attainable, and the plan for reaching those goals. It may also contain background information about the organization or team attempting to reach those goals.

Financial

The financial portion of my business plan became easier for me to structure when I viewed a template by a veteran Virtual Assistant (VA). If you need some help with the financial portion of your business plan I strongly recommend going online to locate an existing template from one of your industry leaders. Or, if you are a member of one of your industries professional organizations, research their online forms/tools or call their main office for guidance. Another suggestion is to utilize your local Small Business Administration office as they can connect you to useful resources.

Marketing

One of the major benefits of my coaching experience at VA Biz Coach with Jeannine Clontz was to simplify my marketing actions that needed to be carried out each week. It is imperative to know how to market your business effectively and efficiently. Referrals are a great way to grow your business. After talking with a client or networking partner, close the call by asking for a referral. In your request explain your ideal client profile.

Also marketing has changed so much with the expansion of social media and mobile marketing that I suggest building an online reputation as part of your marketing plan. Think radio and print is the only way to market? Media reports are showing that Internet marketing is very effective and time efficient if planned and implemented properly. Internet marketing can also offer you the radio experience through Internet radio broadcasting stations like Blog Talk Radio.

Growth Plan

If you are an existing entrepreneur and your business is doing well, or needs some help, this is an optimum time to revise your current business plan. Review what you wrote last year or the last time you wrote it out to see what worked, what did not and how well you remained in alignment with your last business intentions. If you have accomplished what you wanted, how do you plan to expand? Do you plan to work less and expand in other areas of your life? If so, are you prepared to hire staff or outsource? How do you plan to expand your business if you want to increase your profit? What new products or services have you developed? What are your industry changes? When was the last time you attended an event to listen to a leader in your industry? If your business has grown, what is your new exit strategy? Now is a good time to map out your direction.

Other Portions and Suggestions

For the other portions of your business plan you should consider your intentions. What do you intend to create with this business? Whether it is a specific income, beautiful assets, or gain time for other experiences, write your outline from an inspired place. When you start working from this outline only input inspired and driven energy into your business. Inspired and driven energy connects with the unseen and helps bring your dreams to reality. If you are feeling tired or fearful about your intentions, wait to work on your business plan until you feel good about your ideas.

I am revising my plan this week and I will keep you updated on my direction, progress, or changes throughout 2010. Join me by writing or revising your plans and work on them with inspired energy. Each day that we have worked toward our year-end desires/goals, end the day by letting them go and allow faith to do the rest.

Can a New Internet Marketer Battle the Gurus in the Game of Internet Marketing?

Sunday, October 30th, 2011

Many people are coming online daily to find out their rightful place among Internet marketing gurus who have created a virtual empire of residual income. Many new Internet Marketers are very intimidated by this. The primary reason?

They don’t know how to produce a unique product.

Many new internet marketers believe that if someone is already successfully selling an information product on affiliate marketing, then they can’t get to the top, so they drop their dreams and return to their 9-5 daily grind in corporate America (or anywhere else)

It is possible for new internet marketers to break out onto the scene and become a hit based on what they know that’s better or different from what the big Guru’s have to say.

But in order to do this, the Internet Marketer has to come onto the marketplace with huge confidence so that his or her target audience will believe the message that’s being sold.

A guru isn’t someone who knows more about how to do something. A guru, in the Internet marketing world, is someone who was original and/or someone who has been earning a living steadily online for a long amount of time and therefore has learned over time what works.

A little guy may be new to selling a product, but that doesn’t mean he or she hasn’t worked online for months or years to learn the how to sell. If you were able to come online and learn Internet marketing well enough that it allowed you to succeed in a short amount of time, then that makes you a guru in your own right.

A lot of times people are turned off by the word “guru” and get bored from reading about someone’s expertise. Fresh is a good thing in the world of Internet marketing, so before you quit, make sure you at least give your dreams a shot at success and see if the public is willing to invest in your knowledge.

Remember that enthusiasm shows, even on your web page. So if you believe in your product, then it doesn’t matter what niche you’re targeting for your Internet marketing efforts. People will soak up your attitude and you too will be a successful internet marketer!

The Current Economic Crisis – A Great Opportunity for Baby Boomers

Sunday, October 30th, 2011

The current economic crisis has placed baby boomers in a real dilemma.

Some have lost their jobs. Many others are still employed but are feeling job insecurity. They are hoping that there is significant improvement in the economy so their companies can reach a level of financial stability. Then there are those who are not happy with their job and want out.

They are tired of working for someone else. They are sick of their daily commute. They don’t like having only 2-3 weeks of vacation each year and being expected to work the other 49-50 weeks. They desperately want more control of their lives.

Here’s another thing that aggravated me during my career in corporate America. I feel that I missed a lot of my children’s school activities while they were growing up. So when there was an important school play or musical or fair, I asked my boss for a couple of hours off so I could attend. Most of the time, he gave me a “this is the end of the world” response. I didn’t care for that. Have you experienced this before?

So many baby boomers have been hurt by the current economic crisis. For some, money set aside for retirement has been slashed. Their investment portfolio has been hammered. Many relied on the equity in their homes to downsize and live a comfortable life. Unfortunately, the fall in housing prices has negatively impacted their retirement savings.

Many articles I have read talk about how the baby boomer generation has been seriously hurt by the current economic crisis. Yes, some have been hurt, but I believe that they will rebound strongly.

So here is my opinion on how well the baby boomer generation will recover. I feel that I am qualified to give my opinion since I am only slightly older than this generation.

I have worked closely with baby boomers throughout my corporate career. I consider them to be smart and well educated. They are aggressive, willing to take risks, and creative. Many of these people have had successful careers. They are basically “giving” people. They seem to always be willing to help people. All of these characteristics will help them succeed during and after the current economic crisis.

Some will transfer to other jobs that they find more satisfying. While others will take a risk and switch into other vocations.

Many start their own home internet marketing business. The average baby boomer possesses qualities that will help them have success in this type of business.

The baby boomer has the life experience of living through other serious economic downturns. They can lead people from other generations through the current economic crisis.

I heard a presentation by Erica Combs a few months ago. Erica is the wife of Jeffrey Combs, a motivational speaker, a coach, and an entrepreneur.

Erica made a statement that I though was very powerful. What she said has really stuck with me.

I don’t remember her exact words so will only paraphrase her comments. She said that all of us have lived through some negative experiences in our lives. Too many of us let those experiences bog us down. They prevent us from living positive, giving lives.

Then Erica added a statement that I thought was very important for each of us.

She said that our past (both positive and negative experiences) have brought us to our current situation. These experiences allow us to write a beautiful story from this point forward in our lives.

Do you understand what Erica is saying here? I have possibly not written it very clearly. For me, it says that you should not allow negative experiences in the past hold you back. You may have lost your job. You may be feeling insecure in your current employment situation.

You may have had other negative situations in your life. But those negative things have provided you with the life experiences that will help you live a powerful life from this day forward. This is why I feel that baby boomers are in such a perfect position to succeed in a home internet marketing business.

It gives you the opportunity to help people. You have the potential to create unlimited income. You are no longer working for someone else. You run your own business.

It allows you, the baby boomer, to determine your life purpose and how to live out this purpose. I personally feel that this is what life is all about.

Starting a successful home internet marketing business is not easy. You must get excellent internet marketing training. You must work hard. You must be determined and persevere. But the good thing is that most baby boomers possess these qualities.

Laundromat Business Plan: How to Profitably and Efficiently Operate Your Laundromat Business

Saturday, October 29th, 2011

The foundation of a good laundromat business plan will prepare you to identify a quality store location and purchase it at the appropriate price and terms. After purchasing your laundromat, how do you operate your laundromat so that it continues to turn a profit each and every month without you having to work there full-time? Read this article to find out some factors you should consider in your business plan with regards to profitable and efficient laundromat operations.

In your laundromat business plan, consider the following factors in operating your laundromat business.

Employees: Will you have employees? If so, will they work part-time or full-time and what are their duties? How will you measure their performance? Hiring quality employees could be a great leverage point for your business – consider what your time is worth and what an employee can do vs. what absolutely requires you the business owner to do.

Vendors and service providers: Investigate and compare local service providers and vendors that can provide services such as repairs and maintenance on the machines. Again, consider the value of your time here – you don’t need to be the one cleaning the store unless you enjoy doing it and have nothing better to do with your time.

Advertising and marketing: What methods will you use to attract new customers to your laundromat and keep the existing customers? Who is your ideal customer and how will you reach them? This is the most overlooked area for laundromat business owners. Don’t assume people will find your store just because it’s there. Test marketing campaigns to see what works best to attract new customers to your store. Take advantage of the existing customer base and maintain their loyalty by keeping the store clean and implement small changes based on their suggestions.

Hours of operations: 24 hours or 6am – 10pm are common. Learn when your customers visit your store most often. Adapt your store’s hours to the customers’ needs or cut down unprofitable hours to reduce expenses.

Surveillance: It has become very popular to have cameras installed that record what happens in your laundromat in order to protect against liability, theft, or vandalism. You might want to consider some options for surveillance equipment and watch your store from the comfort of your own home! This will save you the commuting cost to check on your store most of the time.

Are you buying into the Silver Bullet solution?

Friday, October 28th, 2011

A great friend of mine and I were speaking, and I was commenting on what people in our industry were attracted to as it relates to training and education. It seems like the only message that resonates is one that will give them instant gratification with no work and absolutely no hardship. They want the weight loss plan that requires no sacrifice. This is when my friend said “Don’t wish for the silver bullet or the next big thing, but strive to be better at who you are and with what you got”. He was right on the mark and unfortunately his comment isn’t limited to just our industry.

Tools that we buy are meant to make us more efficient and effective, but they’re not intended to take the place of personal improvement. When you buy into the next big thing you have to realize that you only have a temporary edge until others in your industry adopt this same “Silver Bullet”. This is the ultimate in arms races where countries continue to invest in the latest weapons in a fruitless effort to be more lethal on the battlefield than the other. Imagine if these countries spent their money on improving their infrastructures and relationships with one another.

I’m not naive enough to say that we shouldn’t invest in tools that expedite processes and make communication more effective, but no amount of investment in these tools that promise a competitive edge can ever take the place of improving what’s on the inside. Long-term professional and personal success cannot be achieved with latest in gadgetry. Remember the saying “you can’t buy happiness”? Well, you can’t purchase success from a toolbox. Real success requires a commitment to personal improvement of the skills and talents you already have. You must build on the gifts you’ve been born with and use the purchases along the way to enhance your skills. One example of where investing in the latest and greatest tools can’t out way the improvement of existing skills is in the game of Golf. Manufactures of clubs and balls strive to create better and better equipment that the pros will adopt, use on the tour and promote their brand. However, it isn’t long until another manufacturer comes out with a competing club or ball and the fairway is leveled once again. Professionals always fall back on the tried and true; practice makes perfect. They continue to hone their skills until they’re as sharp as the blade of a knife, the true sign of an expert!

The kind of self improvement that I’m writing about is that which advances your ability to communicate with others. There is not a single successful moment in life that doesn’t require the exchanging of complex ideas between parties. If you fail to continually refine your Servant, Magnetism, Articulation, Resourcefulness and Transformative nature you’ll never truly actualize the success you deserve.

Essentially Free Small Business Advertising Hints

Thursday, October 27th, 2011

You have done it, you finally took that significant step to start up a home business and right now you’re asking yourself “How should I get the word out about my wonderful services and products?” You are not alone. A lot of home businesses have a problem with just that dilemma – the advertising of their small business went nearly overlooked during the frenzy to get organized and get started. Thankfully there are a number of affordable techniques for you to get the word out there about your home business, your products and your services.

  • Business Cards
  • Business cards really are a easy (and frequently over looked strategy to inexpensively communicate the value you provide to a lot of potential customers, if you take the time to create an amazing offer that gets individuals to get in touch with you. Give them out to everyone you speak to (you don’t need to pre-qualify potential customers) during the day and be sure to provide them with a couple of business card saying “Please do not embarrass me by tossing this away where I can see it. Place one in an obvious place for yourself and pass the others along to someone else who will benefit.” This technique of telling them what you expect from them seems to work well. Make sure your business card includes more than simply your contact information in order to successfully market your small business. Include a discount, bonus or other prize on the back of the business card for bringing it to you when making a sale from your business. Always have the text “Over Please” in the bottom right corner of each side; many people don’t expect content on the backside of a business card and everyone will turn it over right before you while they read it.

  • E-Mail Signature
  • Imagine if every single e-mail you delivered contained marketing and advertising for your small business, it can and it really should! Virtually all of the email clients (i.e. Outlook, Outlook Express) and the web based e-mail service providers allow you to create a signature that may be attached to the end of your new and replied emails. If you’re not familiar with the technical configuration of these options use the search phrase “signature” in the help system for your e-mail package and follow the instructions. Provide the reader with numerous means to contact you (e.g. direct phone, internet site, e-mail and physical address if you have a store front). The signature you provide must invoke the reader’s curiosity to follow-up with you promptly. Text is usually favored to graphics because lots of people have the image features switched off within their e-mail systems to speed their ability to read email. You can often incorporate hyperlinks to your web site in the signature file you develop, which makes it simple for those reading your email messages in HTML format to select a hyperlink directly.

Marketing and advertising your home business does not have to be costly or time-consuming. Try to communicate what you do and the value you provide every day. The tips I’ve provided will give you you a firm foundation upon which to build a prosperous home business. You’re not a secret agent, whenever you build it they’ll only come if you provide them with a reason and light up the way. When you begin using these low-cost, easy tools to promote your small business you’ll see measurable results that will permit you to do more of what is working.

Looking For a ROI Unlimited Team? – Don’t Join ROi Unlimited Without Reading This

    Thursday, October 27th, 2011

When you’re looking at ANY company, the team you join with is extremely important. Joining the right ROI Unlimited team is no different, and it’s actually more vital to your success than in other companies. Purely for the fact that their 2X3 “Follow Me” Matrix relies on lots of spill-over from your team to be highly profitable.

Here are the 3 criteria you need to investigate when choosing the best ROI Unlimited team for YOU.

    #1.) Leadership

It’s vitally important that you join with someone who has proven leadership abilities. The reason is, in order to get where you want to go in this industry, you need to have the best coach possible guiding you every step of the way.

Remember, the person you join with is going to be one of the biggest influences when it comes to the future success of your business. Your mentor needs to be well educated and know the ins-and-outs of the industry in order to best help you get to where you want to go.

Many people join a business without much thought as to who they join. Most of their time is spent researching the company, but it’s the whole idea of “the blind leading the blind.” Make sure your advice is coming from someone who is very knowledgeable and can provide you with the best chance to succeed.

#2.) Advanced Marketing Training and Support

Contrary to popular belief, the business you join means “jack squat” without the proper marketing training. Most people get into an “amazing” business, burn out the friends and family list, and that’s where their journey ends because they have no idea how to market. So unless you love calling hundreds of junk leads and pitching random people on the street, you must find a team that can teach you the proper way to market a business in the “new age.”

It amazes me how many people still call random leads and try and pitch them on their business. I just received a call from a guy a couple days ago, and I couldn’t help but laugh when he instantly started pitching me on some new “whiz-bang” juice business. Long story short, I pointed him in a more effective direction for marketing his juicy-juice.

When done effectively, marketing can be tons of fun and extremely rewarding. Imagine having people call you all day wanting to know more about YOU, and begging to join your business. Never having to “tell and sell” anyone, make a single cold call, or even talk to a prospect who isn’t already interested in what you have to offer. That is the power of business building in the 21 century, and if you get the proper training you can harness the truly unlimited potential of ROI Unlimited.

#3.) Complete “Leadership Branded” Marketing System and Sales Funnel

The key to long-term wealth and freedom is automation. Using a marketing system allows you to put 90% of your business on auto-pilot and dedicate your time marketing and connecting with the prospects who show an interest in ROI Unlimited. The problem with most systems online is they are too focused on selling the “system,” and not focused enough on selling YOU!

At the end of the day, who do you want your prospect joining? If you want them to join YOU and not just a “money machine” system, then you need to build a relationship, and give them a reason to join your team. That means getting out the camera and making a short video that just tells a little bit about you. It doesn’t have to be perfect by any means, people just want to know that its a “real person” behind the website that can lead them to success.

The idea of “Leadership Branding” is all about positioning yourself as a leader from the start, and building relationships through your videos is the best way to do it. If you want to be a leader, you first have to appoint yourself as a leader RIGHT NOW (no one else is going to do it for you), and then just start leading people. It doesn’t matter if you have ALL the skills right away, you’ll be able to leverage the knowledge and skills of your ROI Unlimited team until you get you get a grip on everything.

Think about this, you only have to make a video once and it will build a relationship with all your prospects on complete autopilot for a LIFETIME. Once you realize just how powerful that is, you can turn your marketing system into a relationship building machine that will have your phone ringing off the hook all day long with hungry prospects.

    About the Author

I hope this shed some light on how vitally important it is to choose your ROI Unlimited Team carefully. Jumping into a business without knowing what team your joining is foolish, and you are setting yourself up for failure in the long-term. You need to plug into a team that can provide you will all the tools you need to reach your full potential in ROI Unlimited.
